I’m Pete Schlegel, a mortgage loan officer, real estate investor, and Waterville, Ohio native who has spent six years helping people buy homes and build wealth through real estate. I grew up in Toledo, I coach wrestling at Maumee High School, and my wife Ashley and I invest in real estate ourselves. So when a client sits down with me, they’re not getting someone who just processes loans, they’re getting someone who has been on their side of the table.

A Little Bit About Pete

I grew up in Toledo and never really left, and I’m proud of that. I know this market, I know these neighborhoods, and I know the people. When you work with me, you’re not working with someone who moved here from somewhere else and learned the area from a map. I’ve lived it.

I got into mortgage six years ago because I genuinely love the moment a client gets their keys. There is nothing like it. I’ve now helped hundreds of families buy homes across Ohio, Michigan, and Florida. First-time buyers figuring it all out, investors building portfolios, move-up buyers who outgrew their starter home. Every one of those files had a real person behind it and I never forgot that.

Outside of mortgage, I am the Head Coach of wrestling at Maumee High School and invest in real estate alongside my wife Ashley. I tell people that because it matters. I have been on the borrower’s side of the table myself. I know what it feels like to sit across from a lender and hope my numbers work. That perspective makes me a better loan officer.
